60-Second Coaching Tips

A Miss Can Still Be Useful

Not every bowl that misses the primary target is a bad bowl.

Main Coaching Tip

Useful Miss: a bowl can miss shot but still add value.

Why It Matters

Players lose confidence when they judge every bowl only as perfect or failure. Useful Miss thinking improves tactical awareness because it asks what changed in the head. A bowl may still protect, block a line, trail potential, or create back support for later bowls.

Try This on the Rink

After each delivery, ask two questions: did it hit the primary target, and if not, what value did it still create? This review habit keeps decisions constructive and reduces emotional over-correction after near misses.
