Main Coaching Tip
A bowl may score, protect, block, trail the jack, reduce loss, remove danger or create position.
60-Second Coaching Tips
Before you step onto the mat, know what you want the bowl to achieve.

When players only think about getting close, they often miss better tactical options. Defining the job first creates clearer decisions and better shot selection. It also improves communication in team play because everyone understands what success looks like before the bowl is delivered.
Before each delivery, say the job to yourself in one short phrase: score, protect, block, recover, reduce, or attack. Then pick line and weight that match that job. After the bowl finishes, ask whether it did the job, even if it was not shot.
